Updated (10*2)+2

You might have noticed a few changes around here, nothing major but I thought it was about time I had a bit of a refresh. So… the backend, plugins and template have all been upgraded and the header given a new image (NYC). You might also notice the new live-search and rolling archives which I think are pretty cool!

I visited my parents home last weekend but unfortunately the weather there was pretty grim - warm but with torrential rain and gale force winds - not very conducive to going out in but the food was pretty good so I can’t complain!

Subterranea

Ever since I visited a “secret” decommissioned nuclear bunker as a child I’ve always been fascinated by derelict and hidden subterranean places which give off such a strong atmosphere of adventure and mystery. A recent article on PingMag about Japan’s surreal underground tunnels got me thinking about this again and as it turns out there’s a tonne of information to be found on the Internet about this peculiarly fascinating subject…

  • Underground History - amazing wealth of detailed information about disused stations on London’s underground.
  • Subterranea Britannica - a society devoted the the study and investigation of man-made and man-used underground places in the UK & Europe.
  • Infiltration - the zine about going places you’re not supposed to go! Mainly focused on the US & Canada. Mentioned on RW before.
  • Russos - incredible photos from industrial sites in Russia. These pages are particularly good and not to be missed: (1) (2) (3) (4).
