New UK Coin Designs

Wow, the new designs for UK currency from the Royal Mint look great! I’m amazed that they have gone with something so bold and contemporary. It’s the first time they’ve been updated since 1968 and frankly puts the rest of Europe’s coinage to shame (although no doubt some will hate them). The queen still remains on the reverse side. [via]

    I love them.
A shame the pound coin it's still going to weight like two elephants together… and that “we” are losing points against the Euro, but gosh if they're cool!!! :)

They do look quite swanky. Perhaps you could send me some for a closer inspection? I'm not so interested in the coppers, but I reckon I could sample a few hundred of the pounds

Glad you are of the same opinion, I think you could also say they're another good reason for not switching to the Euro!! ;)

Tom, sounds like another of your nigerian scams! I don't think so!

What a great idea. Love them. Presumably the £2 coin isn't going to change?

Yeah seems like the £2 coin will remain the same. I guess it will take quite a long time for the new ones to come into widespread circulation anyway.
