Yes, you did a great job David :)
I thought of the unofficial ways tooooo... tried to chat a lot with the local but still they don't want to disclose any "secrets"... :)
The hutongs there are all under constructions/refreshing, it's quite messy actually, I don't think the reopen will be near...

Oh I'm sorry to hear its closed - I hope the reopen it again soon as it's a really fascinating part of Beijing's history. I hear there are some unofficial ways to get down into the tunnels but probably quite risky. Glad my posts have been helpful :)

I spent an afternoon to walk around the Hutongs and tried to find the "Underground city". But it's closed when I found it... Reason is in repairing... :(
Your ADs shared has been so useful for my trip in BJ, thanks ^_*

It looks so cool! ^_^ and it can't be that secret if some parts of it have been turned into shops and into cheap refugey-centrey things (my apologies and condolances to the English language for that new compound non-word). It looks really creepy in a fun way :) I wish I'd gone!

As the saying goes "curiosity killed the cat"... hopefully not just yet though!

On a serious note thought what on earth is wrong with taking pictures of a decaying war bunker littered with communist tat? I guess it creates an air of mystique about the place but come on...
